DEPLOYMENT AND FEEDBACK

For the commissioning body, Stream Arts, the game was successful as a participatory art project in collaboration with the local community, drawing in people to the Woolwich Arsenal site and providing them with a novel interface to the location.  The other main stake-holder, the Heritage Museum, attracted more visitors than usual and the nature of the game meant that people would inevitably find out about the site history through playing.

We collected comments from players as they returned.  Specifically cited as enjoyable were the narrative, the history, learning something new and walking round looking for clues.  The cohort was mixed with no gender bias, comprising 19 adults and 8 children in 11 teams.  Five of these people were regular pervasive game players who had found out about the event and travelled across London to join in.

Emotion

In the case of the BWTG, feedback from participants indicated that the stories contained within each mystery had little emotional impact, but that the experience of playing was positive.
